BIOGRAPHY:
Joseph L. Ector is married to Mary B. Ector, they have 2 daughters, 1 Son-in-Law and 3 grandchildren. He is the youngest of six siblings born in Miami, Florida to the late Roscoe and Carmilla Ector. He began his Christian journey at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Miami at a very early age. As a member, he was involved with the youth department, choir, and taught Sunday School. After completing high school, he attended college in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he became a member of Grace A.M. E. Zion Church. During his tenure, he was a member of the choir and served as Preacher Steward. He was employed with Saint Augustine’s College as a member of the Office of Admissions. After approximately seven years working and serving the Lord in North Carolina, Joseph was blessed with a new career opportunity in Orlando, Florida. While stationed in Orlando, Joseph continued his walk with the Lord and united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Eatonville, Florida. While worshiping there, he gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and spiritual growth under the leadership of his pastor and mentor, Rev. Willie C. Barnes. At Macedonia, he served in the choir, tape ministry, taught youth Bible Study, and president of the Single’s Ministry.
While matriculating in Orlando, he worked at University of Central Florida in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Special Projects. Continuing to be blessed by Almighty God, Joseph accepted a position with the National Scholarship Service in Atlanta, Georgia. While working for the National Scholarship Service gave Joseph a tremendous amount of opportunity to work closely with mentoring and assisting to obtain Scholarships. After careful consideration and prayer, he joined fellowship with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Roopville, Georgia. There he served as a member of the choir, assisting with the youth department and a member of the Family of Praise Gospel Singers. In view of his profession, he counsels young people facing life’s challenges while assisting them in achieving their career goals and aspirations through education. He serves as a mentor to young people. During his continuous spiritual growth, Joseph made a decision to accept his calling into the ministry on January 4, 1998. He delivered his Initial Sermon, “What Happens When You Touch” on Sunday, February 15, 1998. After careful observation, he was Ordained into the Ministry on Sunday, November 14, 1999. On Sunday, August 6, 2000 he joined forces with the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia where he served as an Associate Minister.
In 2005 He along with his wife Mary founded Joseph & Mary Ministries, Inc., an Outreach Ministry assisting youth in the Metro Atlanta and surrounding counties specifically Clayton County, Counseling Married Couples, Mentoring and Preaching the Gospel. From August 29, 2005 until December 31, 2006 he fellowshipped with several Ministries in the Metro Atlanta area. On Sunday January 7, 2007 him along with his wife, Mary accepted an assignment to assist the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Roopville, Georgia in their Renovation Project and Church Growth. On Sunday July 4, 2010 him and his wife began fellowshipping and within a month became the Church Administrator at Liberty Ministries Family Worship Center of Atlanta, GA. Joseph began his employment with the City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management in March 2011, he also began to work as a consultant with College Campus Tours serving as a Tour Director, escorting young people form all over the country on College Tours.
In May 2012 he began fellowshipping with Revolutionary Ministries International in Hampton, GA. March 2013 until December 2017, he returned to Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church serving in various capacities within the ministry. Joseph and Mary went into prayer and was led by the Holy Spirit to attend Kingdom of Christ Church International, working with Men Ministry, Bible Study and Sunday School Teacher. They also served with Single’s and Marriage Ministry. We were also tasked with Coordinating the 2019 Holy Convocation. During the planes for the 2020 Holy Convocation, we were faced with Covid 19, which put a standstill on everything. He and his wife have been fellowshipping with Tabernacle of Praise Church International in Jonesboro, Ga.
In February of 2024 with the leading of the Holy Spirit and the help from his wife, Joseph started the plans to Launch the Joseph L. Ector Foundation, Inc. focusing on Mentorship, Scholarships and Emergency Management.
His philosophy in life derives from Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.
“For the man who puts God first always reaches his destination”.
